While in Punta we drove for about 40 minutes to Pueblo Garzón - a small town close to José Ignacio, and to La Pedrera, a little further. Garzon is a gorgeous village worth discovering... maybe just because there is nothing there, and the tranquility and silence one experiences upon arrival, is almost absurd... just a few, small houses, a plaza, dirt roads, and a posada /restaurant operated by one of South America's leading chef's, Francis Mallmann.

Colonia - UY
Last weekend Henry and I went to Colonia again, but this time we slept there (didn't go to Carmelo this time). As soon as we got to the hotel after walking around all day- it started to rain, so we went to the spa, which was nice cause we had it all to ourselves! no one else there.. . got a massage and all that stuff. The next day was beautiful! we had lunch at this little place called La Florida. Really good. Colonia is so cool.. I feel like I'm soo... away from everything.. it's almost like being in another time period... I feel transported.

Juliette Lewis in BA.
Went to see Juliette Lewis and her band- The Licks - a few days ago. So she's not just a great actress but also a talented singer/ songwriter. They played at Palacio Barolo, here in Buenos Aires.

K x 2
Let me introduce you to our new president. We go from having 5 presidents in one week, to having a couple govern for 8 years, or 12 years or whatever. Anything can happen. It's politics.
I found this old photo of C. Kirchner, which I kinda like cause she looks like a character from a Hitchcock movie.

weekend escape
Last weekend was the last long weekend of the year here in Argentina, so Henry and I went to La Pascuala - this little place in one of the Delta islands. It was glorious. If you've ever been to Vietnam, this is kind of similar. Romantic and great for relaxing, nearby the city.

KONGA
Last night I went to see Jean Francois Casanova's Konga at the Maipo theatre, and it was fantastic. The place is not the traditional theatre. It is one of those spaces, which has little tables and an interactive- type stage, which made the experience so much nicer. We had a great wine and enjoyed the surrealist -meets- kitsch show, which overflows with glamour, bizzare characters and humor.

arteBA: MAY 18 to 22 / 1 to 10 PM / LA RURAL
"arteBA Foundation presents arteBA'07, focuses attention and acts as a platform for promoting the art of our region. It is a space that displays the strong presence of curatorial projects, the participation of art galleries, institutions and organisations that support and promote the art of our time. Furthermore, it enables participation and open discussion through the extensive program of discussion sessions".
It is amazing how much arteBA has grown in the last, few years. I'm looking forward to this one!! Soon.

I love Patagonia
We just got back from Patagonia. The first few days we stayed in a lodge out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by the most incredible sceneries ever. We did horseback riding, kayaks, trekking, etc. We went to Bariloche one day, did rafting on the Manso river, all the way to Chile. That part was a thrill. That night, exhausted as we were, we had dinner at Nann - a tiny restaurant with gorgeous views of the city. Once dinner was over, the owners kindly invited Henry and I to a back room where we met their friend Ernesto, owner of Cassis, another great restaurant by the lake. We tasted some of their favorite wines and chatted for a long time. It was so ideal.
Then came Villa la Angostura where we went to a friend's birthday. We had an asado at his newly-finished house set on a hill facing the river and surrounded by a lush forest. After lunch the boys went for a swim in the river! too cold for me that day...thanks but no thanks. Tinto Bistro later that night was fun! as were the days that followed in the magic of Las Balsas. Then, off to Henry's house.
Special thanks to Las Balsas for your hospitality.
