Postcards from Antarctica

Adelie penguins are the most common of all Antarctic penguin species.

They are so cute with their tuxedo shirt front!! you can see them walking or sliding all over the beaches and headlands of the Antarctic coast. Watching them slide to the waters edge and dive into the freezing waters, is such a thrilling experience.

PATAGONIA GLACIERS

Just got back from El Calafate

It was magical. I loved being there again.
My favorite things were BIG ICE, picnic next to the icebergs and dinner at Los Sauces.

A splendid book store

El Ateneo was selected the most beautiful book store in Latin America. How could it not be?
J.L. Borges used to say that he always thought that paradise would be some type of library or bookstore. This place is indeed heavenly!

Garzon (ghost town in UY) + La Pedrera

While in Punta we drove for about 40 minutes to Pueblo Garzón - a small town close to José Ignacio, and to La Pedrera, a little further. Garzon is a gorgeous village worth discovering... maybe just because there is nothing there, and the tranquility and silence one experiences upon arrival, is almost absurd... just a few, small houses, a plaza, dirt roads, and a posada /restaurant operated by one of South America's leading chef's, Francis Mallmann.
